Restaurant with a unique network of Gothic arches in a very good state of preservation. It also contains an ice well.

Entering the restaurant Els Arcs is like suddenly finding oneself in a film set in the Middle Ages. The arches that give the establishment its name in Catalan stand out from the moment one sets foot inside the restaurant and entirely fill the eyes of the beholder with their magnificent architectural splendour. The forest of arches is made in the Gothic style and its design affords the building a large open space (although it is now subdivided) while also acting as a support for the upper floors of the building. In addition, the restaurant has other interesting elements, such as an old well or ice pit. Els Arcs is an almost magical place. Having a meal there you will notice that reminders of medieval times are always present wherever you look.

Els Arcs is at Carrer de Misser Sitges, 13. Menu available at: http://restaurantarcs.com/en/

The restaurant is housed in a medieval building, which is itself located in the middle of the ancient provincial forum representation square. In the premises, one can admire medieval pointed arches that form a continuous network throughout the building. There are also segmental arches built during the Early Modern era and a medieval or early modern well or ice pit. The construction of the arches dates from the mid-14th century. The façade of the building is also of interest since the wall is made of recycled stone with irregular elements. On the façade there are also several openings and windows that have been opened and covered over the centuries.
