Tarragona, the crossroads of the Mediterranean coast and the Ebro valley, is located south of the large metropolitan area of Barcelona.

Tarragona is located on the Mediterranean coast, in the north-east of Spain and the south of Catalonia, fifty minutes from Barcelona, three hours by car from the border with France and two-and-a-half hours by train from Madrid.

The city’s outlook onto the Mediterranean Sea, with 14 km of coastline, gives it a mild and temperate climate all year round, with an average annual temperature of 17.4°C and more than 2,700 hours of sunshine each year. Rainfall is low and concentrated in autumn and spring.

Tarragona is the capital of the province of Tarragona, a region at the crossroads of the Mediterranean cost and the Ebro valley which, together with the port, makes it a strategic hub. The city of Tarragona is the location of both the state and autonomous administrative headquarters.
